Sorry it's taking so long again, but I've switched to mac recently and unfortunatelly my PS plugins hate macs and I can't tone pages as I did in the past DD:. I bought Manga Studio but despite being easy to apply, tones act crazy in preview which forces me to export file and open it in PS every few minutes to see what am I actually doing. And it still looks crappy. xD
If anyone here uses manga studio - do you have any advice on toning high resolution pictures and force the program to show more accurate small previews? D;

i tak kocham mojego maczka. xd

I wish I could find an alternative. :x
Maybe deleter comic works or sth. D:

Thanks. :)

I'm glad you like it. :)

Every time you comment I wish you would show me that something something you said you drew or something. xD

Thanks a lot! :o
There's gonna be much more of him in this chap. ;)

Zooming really bothers me, but I can't see even small part of the picture in 100% (A4 600dpi file), so 200% or more doesn't do the trick.
But thanks anyway, I'm looking forward to your tutorial! :)

@Kairin Touzen
There will be more of him soon. ;)

And thanks a lot for nomination! :o

I can't wait too. xD Sry for being so slow. ^^;

I'm very glad. :D

By preview I mean the file that I'm working on while zooming out the pic to see how the tones will look like after resizing it for purposes of smackjeeves. I have no problems with exporting or with using 'show tone area'. I have problem with tones looking different in zoomed out MS and zoomed out PS. And yeah, 100% zoom shows exactly how dots are but it's of totally no use for me, as I can't even see half of 600dpi A4 on 22'' screen. What I need is ability to quickly see the picture zoomed out with ACCURATE tone preview (which I was able to do while toning with powertone plugin in Ps). DDDD:

Manga Studio
I use manga studio. It is bothersome in the fact that the preview isn't very good, but if you zoom in to about 200% to 400% or so, the tones show up as they would if you exported it.

If you want to see the area that you're toning, right click on the layer and there should be a tone option setting near the bottom. Click on 'show tone area' and all of the tones will turn blue. It'll show the paste area of it. As far as I know, when you export the file the blue will be gone since it's like a highlight, but you can also just right click and change the setting to off when you're done.

I'll be making a tutorial on this once exams are over. :)

Ok, question is: what do you mean by preview? The file you see while working on or the small preview it saves?
If you're not sure where the tone goes the trick is: on the layer with the tone you're working with open Layer Properties and check the box "show tone area"; there you'll see (in a blue or other color) where there is tone and where there isn't.
When you zoom 100% you see the tone exactly as the dots are. If you have big screen you can have two windows of the same picture opened, small and big (Window>>new window).
As for exporting; I always export the exact size in monochrome, then convert in Photoshop to greyscale, blur, scale 50%, blur, scale 50% and then scale down to the size I want.
Also, you can turn preview of the tone before you paste it (and after too I think...)
It takes small while to get used to but then MS RULEZ!

OK, I haven't used powertone, but when I take pure BW picture to Photoshop it actually looks much worse and less acurate in Mangastudion. I guess it's something about the color management... Were the powertone pictures pure BW (1 bit) or greyscale?
I must admit I was taken aback by that thing in mangastudio, but I checked how which kind of tones work (you have to understand the settings) and now I rarely have to change the tones after checking the exported file (if only then because of my own mistakes XD).

Occasionally I'll find a tone looks drastically different in MS than in PS... but I haven't had that be a frequent issue so I'm not sure what to say. : / (I use Manga Studio on my Mac.) What did you use on your PC? Comicworks? I recently purchased a new iMac (it isn't here yet) but I bought parallels this time so I could run Comicworks on it too. I love Comicworks; I love a lot of the tones it has that MS doesn't. I haven't seen how well the parallels work yet, but assuming they work like they should, they can be purchased for somewhere around $80 bucks. Just an idea if you would like to run your old windows programs on a mac.
